How will I contribute to improving Indigenous health as a qualified medical practitioner or health worker?
My dream and aspiration as long as Ican remember is to be a remote nurse working in remote aboriginal communities. I have always found this to be one of the most fascinating, challenging, rewarding job and lifestyles one could possibly imagine and this has been my driving factor for my studies.
To support these communities I need to be appropriatel skilled and I am half way there. I have completed a bachelor or nursing and a graduate diploma in mental health. I would like to next complete a midwifery degree and finally a diploma in emergency nursing and primary health. We are all well aware of the Indigenous health statistics in Australia and it is most alarming for a first world country. I, even as one person, would like to make a difference, even to one life.
