Australian Rotary Health “Medal”

The Board of Australian Rotary Health awards an annual ‘Medal’ to an individual who has made a contribution of outstanding service to Australian Rotary Health. The Medal is the second highest award of meritorious service, after Life Membership (which ARH bestows), and is awarded annually. Recipients are presented with a framed certificate and commemorative pin.

2022 Recipient

The Rotary Club of Mooloolaba was the first Rotary Club to organise a walk for mental health, this was the brainchild of PP Vicki Stewart.

2022 was the 7th year the club has conducted a walk with funds raised supporting mental health research.

Vicki and club members have been strong advocates for Lift the Lid Walks and have supported Australian Rotary Health in establishing a national committee to further promote the event.

Chairman Kevin Shadbolt OAM attended the 2022 Lift the Lid Walk in Moololaba and presented Vicki with the Australian Rotary Heatlh Medal 2022 and he Rotary Club with a Companion Award.

Past Recipients

  • 2010 District 9810,Vic,for their annual bike ride to District Conference.
  • 2011 District 9680, NSW for their financial contribution to Australian Rotary Health, particularly during 2011.
  • 2012 District 9550, Queensland, for their major annual fundraising event, Banish the Black Dog Ride.
  • 2013 District 9830, Tasmania for initiatives including Sally’s Ride, The Ulverstone Health Expo & their many Funding Partner PhD Scholarships.
  • 2014 District 9675, introducing the ARH Golden Microscope Award and support for Indigenous Health Scholarships, Funding Partner PhD Scholarships.
  • 2015 District 9650, acknowledge the support of District Governors and, in particular, their partners for naming ARH as the “Partner Project” in each consecutive year from 2011/12 to 2015/16 and before that in 2008/2009 and 2006/2007.
  • 2016 District 9810, since 1986, Rotarians, partners, friends and Exchange Students undertake a 700km plus bike ride in the lead up to the District 9810 Conference. The 2016 ride was known as the ‘Million Dollar Milestone Ride’ as it raised enough support to celebrate reaching the donation of $1 million since the ride commenced 30 years ago.

2019 Recipient

Districts 9455 and 9465: acknowledging the District’s joint efforts in encouraging members in Western Australia to take part in ARH fundraising events and hosting successful mental health forums, including 2 Lift the Lid on Mental Illness ones at the UWA Club in Perth.

  • 2017 District 9830, acknowledging the District’s increased awareness with the increase in Funding Partner PhD scholarship and the continue engagement through their Health Expos.
  • 2018 District 9570, acknowledging the District’s efforts in promoting mental health at a number of community forum events.
  • 2019 Districts 9455 and 9465, acknowledging the District’s joint efforts in encouraging members in Western Australia to take part in ARH fundraising events and hosting successful mental health forums, including 2 Lift the Lid on Mental Illness ones at the UWA Club in Perth.

Awards for Research Excellence in Prevention 2023

The Australian Rotary Health and the Alliance for the Prevention of Mental Disorders Awards recognise excellence in research in the area of prevention of mental disorders and are intended for researchers whose work is beginning to make a significant impact, reflecting either scientific excellence or public impact (or both).

Australian Rotary Health Mental Health Impact Award

Australian Rotary Health sponsors an annual award for knowledge dissemination through the Society for Mental Health Research (SMHR).   The award is given to a person who has shown outstanding service in the promotion of evidence-based interventions, implementing them into practice or making the public more aware of their existence.

Digital interventions have the potential to overcome barriers to accessing effective and sustainable care for youth with mental health difficulties.    A digital intervention named MOST, AIMS to improve outcomes for young people.

Friend & Companion Recognition

To recognise those who support us, Australian Rotary Health enables donors to become a ‘Friend’, or Companion‘.

Individuals may choose to credit their donations through a nominated Rotary Club.

FRIENDS

Individuals who donate $100 or more are eligible to become a Friend of Australian Rotary Health. Contributions are cumulative and the following recognition levels are available:

COMPANIONS

Donors who contribute $5,000 or over to Australian Rotary Health are eligible to become a Companion.   Contributions are cumulative and the following recognition levels are available:
