MENTAL HEALTH GRANT APPLICATIONS

Important Notes for Mental Health Grant Applications:

  • Principal Investigators holding a current Australian Rotary Health grant are not eligible to apply unless their grant finishes in the year of application. Co-Investigators can have an active Australian Rotary Grant in progress.
  • The Principal Investigator may apply for only ONE grant as the Principal Investigator (they may be included as Co-Investigators on other applications)
  • The Principal Investigator MUST be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia or New Zealand. Co-Investigators can have any country of origin.
  • Expression of Interest (EOI) is submitted first.
  • If invited to submit a full application, there are to be no changes allowed to the Principal Investigator.

POST DOCTORAL &
PhD APPLICATIONS

Important Notes for Mental Health Post-Doctoral Fellowship Applications:

The Fellow will have the following skill base:

  • PhD award in an appropriate discipline within the past 3 YEARS fulltime equivalent.
  • Be actively engaged in a field of research related to mental health, specifically the prevention of mental illness.
  • Show evidence of original intellectual input into research.
  • Show evidence of high quality research output, which is published and presented in appropriate national and international foray.
  • Show evidence of ability to undertake collaborative research.
  • Be involved in the peer review of manuscripts and project funding applications.
  • Show evidence of a growing national reputation.
  • Be involved in other professional activities.

Important Notes for Mental Health Ian Scott PhD Scholarship Applications:

  • It is intended that Australian Rotary Health will provide salary and incidental support for a postgraduate student who is undertaking full time research in mental health.
  • Applicants must be an Australian citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, or New Zealand citizen, and not be under bond to any foreign government in order to be eligible. Evidence of citizenship or residential status must accompany this application.
  • Only applicants about to commence a PhD, or already engaged in the first year of a PhD, are eligible to apply.
  • Applicants enrolled in a combined degree are not eligible to apply (e.g., PhD/ Masters).

PhD SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS

Important Notes for General Health PhD Applications:

It is intended that Australian Rotary Health will provide stipend and incidental support for a postgraduate student who is undertaking full time research in the areas below.

Applicants must be enrolled in an Australian University, an Australian citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, or New Zealand citizen, and not be under bond to any foreign government in order to be eligible. Evidence of citizenship (citizenship certificate, birth certificate, and passport) or residential status must accompany this application.

Overseas PhD students can apply for scholarships on confirmation of the following:

  • Tuition fees to applicants chosen Australian University are paid (unless fees are waived by the university)
  • Applicant to have confirmed a supervisor for their research work and a university with confirmed of their enrolment.
  • Applicant to have agreed to stay in Australia for the term of the PhD – up to 3.5 years

Important Notes for Indigenous Health Scholarship Applications:

To be eligible for the scholarship applicants must:

  • Be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander origin or both.  For the purposes of this application, an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander is someone who identifies as being of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander origin and is accepted as such by the community in which he or she has lived.   Applicants will be asked to provide a letter from an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander organisation or community supporting their claim;
  • Be undertaking and enrolled and completed at least one year successfully in an approved medical or health related degree.

Important Notes for Rural Nursing Scholarship Applications:

  • To be eligible the candidate must demonstrate ‘a need’ and must attend their Rural/Regional Hospital for the entire Post Grad Year. Failure to do so will have the student forfeit further payments.

  • Scholarships will only be open to Australian citizens attending or enrolled to attend a RCS.
  • To be eligible the candidate must demonstrate ‘a need’ and must attend the RCS for the entire year. Failure to do so will have the student forfeit further payments.
  • Candidate must demonstrate ‘community values.’
  • Candidates who hold other Scholarships are not able to apply for this Scholarship (except for John Flynn), but the Scholarship is paid as an addition to Austudy allowance.
