How will I contribute to improving Indigenous health as a qualified medical practitioner or health worker?
I have chosen physiotherapy because I have always had an interest in health, sport and fitness. As I became older and got more into sport, I started to experience what it is like to have an injury. Sport has become a passion of mine. My world literally revolved around proper preparation. Everything I do, what I eat, training and gym is all for plying football. Having had injuries, rehabilitation ad recover is knowledge that I want to gain in order to help people manage and recover from their injuries.
I already have some knowledge of the injuries I have been through and when other people experience them, I like helping others however possible, based on what has helped me plus knowledge I have learned from others along my football journey. I will continue to build my knowledge and passion as I keep pursuing my football career and my physiotherapy degree journey.
As a proud Torres Strait Islander young woman I want to give back to the community and help support Indigenous people in the way that I am most passionate about through rehabilitation therapy. I aspire to find opportunities to work in remote Indigenous communities in Austria, where I am able to support the healthcare of small communities as a physiotherapist.
